AASP HELPS THE MARINE MILITARY ACADEMY EXPAND THEIR HUMAN PERFORMANCE LAB

The AASP continues to work closely with the Marine Military Academy in the development of their onsite World Class Human Performance Lab (HPL).  Consultants from the AASP recently assisted the Marine Military Academy in their expansion of neuromuscular testing capabilities within the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL). Prior emphasis had been placed upon aquiring equipment and developing protocol to evaluate the spine and large muscles of the extremities.  Due to the success of the core neuromuscular testing a small muscle testing area was recently added. This area includes that capability of testing small muscle reaction time to a variety of stimuli. Particular emphasis will be placed upon the assessment of eye-hand and eye-foot coordination.

The expanded facilities provide an opportunity to quantitatively assess reaction time as well as fine motor coordination and strength. The integration of the two areas of neuromuscular testing provides a unique opportunity to assess small muscle performance, compare to large muscle performance and overall physical potential. The testing of various protocols will provide the AASP with valuable insight about the potential role of similar testing in individuals who have spinal disorders.
