Membership with the American Academy of Spine Physicians continues to grow. Since April of 2006, the number of neurosurgeons who have become members of the AASP has nearly doubled. The current ratio of neurosurgeons to chiropractic physicians within the organization is approximately 1 to 5, significantly better than the national average which is approximately 1 to 11. This trend is an indication of the changing perspective on cooperative care and the growing respect for the role of the chiropractic physician in spinecare. The growing density of interdisciplinary membership in geographic locations helps to facilitate cooperative spinecare.
